Mr. Lien Choong Luen is a former commando officer and a management consultant in McKinsey and Co. Outside of work, Mr Lien has a great passion for adventure travel. He has summited the two highest mountains in the world (Everest and K2), competed in ultra-marathons in the scorching 50 degree heat of the Gobi desert as well as the choking humidity of the Amazon jungle, travelled in the Arctic circle in winter at -50 degrees and skied to the North Pole. In this talk, Mr. Lien will share his experiences from his three different careers (army, sports and management consulting) and will discuss what leadership lessons he learned from these diverse experiences.

Sinan is the co-founder of Zizooboats, the leading boat holiday platform, offering over 8,000 boats across 200 destinations worldwide. Zizooboats is digitalising boat rental industry (worth an estimated €42 billion), which is 10 years behind any other travel sector. They are building a global digital booking platform and community, similar to “Booking.com for Boats” in combination with an Airbnb like community model (reviews, communication, location based apps and services).

In this session, Morena and Sinan will share their stories and experiences in running these two globally oriented companies. They will discuss what factors are required for success in the hypercompetitive start-up landscape. Finally, they will reflect on challenges they faced along the way and how they worked to overcome them.
